Hello, My KIAH Airport only uses rwys 33R/33L, not matter what the winds are.

That's doesn't have anything to do with the scenery, that have all the runways in places, but it's a decision made by FSX using several factors (runway length, wind direction/speed, ils avail, etc.), each one with its own weight, with the wind having the most effect.

You'll always get the longest runway with an ILS, provided the tailwind component is not too strong to require a change of runway. That's how FSX always worked. Of course, I just checked, with strong winds (24 kt) from 306, it gave me the runways 33s, but with wind from 180, it gave me only the 15s.

Its all in the direction of wind.. How the wind is.. is what makes which runways active.. Also try using Vatsim, you will have real people flying with you & when ATC is online, you have like real world style ATC, which means you will get different runways depending on the wind direction.. Most times out of IAH its 15L is the active.. I've only got 33R occasionally..  I barely ever see Runway 9 , you really have to have the right winds in order to see Runway 9 for takeoff..

Which is exactly what I've said:

Yes, you can close runways but, the wind will always take precedence or, more precisely, an higher weight.
