Follow Me Cross Country?
« on: April 27, 2017, 11:58:24 pm »
So I just had a nice long flight from Kansas City to Orlando, landing at KMCO. Didn't have my airport diagram with me, so I decided to call GSX to send me a follow me vehicle. It met up find with me right after I vacated the runway at 17L. I even saw the vehicle driving on the taxiway, however, as I began to follow the vehicle, it diverted cross country, and I lost it in the woods!  ::) I was heading to gate 32 to park my Spirit Airlines Airbus, any idea why this happened?

You don't say which Orlando you are referring to. Default, Cloud9 or something else ?

Taxi2Gate in FSX. All aircraft where following the right taxi path, except Mr. Follow Me through the woods to grandma's house.  ;)

Fact that AI planes follow the taxiways, doesn't mean the AFCAD doesn't have any issues, because they follow different rules.

I don't have that scenery, but I just tried it now with default KMCO, calling the follow me just right after vacating the 17L runway on taxi F, and it guided to Gate 33 flawlessly so, it must be a problem of the scenery AFCAD.

I don't have any duplicate AFCAD, and never had a problem with the one that came with the scenery. I never tried the follow me vehicle in this airport before, and to be honest with you, in real life you don't have follow me cars at Orlando International, so I can live with it since I always use airport diagram charts to get around, except for this one occasion. All other GSX service vehicles work fine with this scenery, so that's all I really need for GSX to do here.

Thanks any way, Umberto.

I never implied in you having a duplicate scenery. I only said that with the default scenery, the GSX follow me works normally so, the only possible explanation is there IS some kind of problem with the AFCAD that comes with this scenery.

And if "never had a problem", you are referring to never having a problem with the GSX Follow me at that scenery, that doesn't mean much, because different positions when you called it, and different gate destinations will result in different path chosen so, unless the scenery has tons of errors, it's very likely that you won't find any problem until the route chosen will pass through a problematic area.

Have you tried opening with ADE or AFX and ask for a "Faults report" ?

Haven't tried a faults report, but when I get a chance, I'll try that. Like I said, I hardly never use follow me vehicles in the states, since we don't really use them here. Normally I ask for a follow me vehicle in one of the European airports where they are more common.
