P3D and FSX:SE Fatal error after engaging GSX
« on: February 14, 2017, 04:34:49 am »
Hi!
I have just bought and installed GSX days ago. Installation process was normal. It worked perfectly well and I liked it so much. I exited P3D v3.4 after the flight as usual and nothing special showed. However, when I want to run P3D again, there came a "fatal error" and I could not enter P3D! I check the event record of Windows, it said there was something wrong related to "ntdll.dll"! I had removed "P3D.cfg" file and I could enter P3D again. After a few times of experiment, I found that everytime I engage GSX, this will happen! It's quite annoying! I like GSX but I dare not use it now. It happened to my FSX:SE too!
Anything I can do? Please?
ps. My spec i7-7700K,NVIDIA 1070 ,Windows 10 64 bit.

I have just bought and installed GSX days ago.

Try to reinstall it, because we had some updates in the past days, and reinstalling it will get updates files.

Thanks ! But it's already this latest version, and I have reinstalled it many times. SO is the addon manager.
It works well in FSX:SE, but has many problems with P3D.
BTW, could you please tell me how in remove GSX completely so I can have a clear reinstall.

You cannot be sure of this, unless you reinstalled it after I told you.

It works well in FSX:SE, but has many problems with P3D.

Your log shows you had other problems in the sim, not related to GSX:

Quote
Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect ,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="67c7c14424d61b5b",type="win32",version="10.0.61242.0"
 D:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\RAASPRO\RAASPRO.dll

So, what's really happening is, THIS addon is making the sim crash, and it's causing GSX to crash too. This because, from your log, it doesn't show that GSX crashed:

Connection with FSX lost (has it crashed?)

This error shows the program was running normally and was able to log the problem that it lost the connection to the sim, most likely because the sim crashed on its own.

Thank you so much for clarification!
I think I have found the actual reason!
Now it's OK.
Only one residual question. Sometimes, P3D crashes and I run P3D again. However, I cannot find GSX in the addon tab.
I have to terminate P3D, wait for a while, then run P3D again.
Then GSX appears in addon tab and I can use it.
Is it normal?

Yes, if you are running lots of other addons modules, you must allow the sim enough time to close all the modules, free all resources, and release all locks on all open files.
