GSX crash with Concorde
« on: January 22, 2017, 09:10:01 am »
I get this crash with FSLabs Concorde X recently with Prepar3D v3 Professional 3.4.18.19475

It is not location specific, it can happen anywhere.

Anything I can do to try to fix this ?

I tried it with your config file, and I cannot reproduce this.

However, we are making a couple of fixes for the next update, which should fit better the Concorde, for example, even if it's a 4 engine plane, it's not use making 4 sets of traffic cones, so the next update will allow you to configure the aircraft to remove only specific cones, by setting their altitude to -100 meters below ground.

With respect Umberto the traffic cones are the least of my troubles. I want a non-mandatory option for fuelling. Concorde can't utilise the facility in GSX unless you get together with Andrew and Lefteris which isn't going to happen.

It would also be appreciated if you could spend some time looking to improve the parking situation for Concorde too. Having to customise every parking spot to cater for it is tiresome. Given the way GSX can be configured can't an alternative procedure be created so I'm able to park Concorde as easily as I can a PMDG aircraft? I paid the same for GSX as PMDG owners so shouldn't I have the same as they have? Concorde seems to be the 'Cinderella' of the fleet.  >:(

The traffic cones are THE problem you were having in your crash log. I couldn't reproduce it, but it's surely related to them.

We already discussed this with FS Labs, since we are in very good terms with them, especially Lefteris, who I have known for so many years.

The non-mandatory option for the fuel is really trivial to add, and can be added without any interaction with the airplane, but we are doing it much better, and will try to add fully bi-directional communication between the plane and GSX.

Could you please explain better what you have to do ?

If I follow the marshaller he will get me too close for comfort to the terminal building.
Concorde (its reference point) needs be stopped some 10~7 meters (findings from my tests in past) before other aircraft so that the front door remains accessible by the jetway and/or its pointy nose does not crash in the building !

Ah right, my misunderstanding, sorry. I thought they were a purely visual thing but clearly not.

You are probably aware they are both extremely busy with the A320 plus supporting it. That's why I thought their support would be unlikely for some time. If they can spare the time then that's great.  :)

That would be appreciated, thank you. But it will take some time so maybe in the short-term an option to disable the fuel truck might be an idea.

Kyp has mentioned this in his reply. If we follow the marshaller's guidance the nose of Concorde will often end up buried in the terminal building. This doesn't happen with a Boeing or Airbus. So it's frustrating we can't park correctly and get the marshaller dancing!  ;D
Cheers,
Ray.

Just a hint on the parking issue:   I only use heavy parking spaces for Concorde to avoid this problem.  I designate certain parking spaces in my AFCAD for the airports I fly to and have set the parking positions the same for Concorde as for PMDG heavies and have no issues.  I code my config files for Concorde using "atc_parking_codes= CONC" and use the same CONC in each of my chosen parking places within the AFCADS.  Without this specification, however, GSX will send Concorde to "small" parking and as you have discovered, that will not work!  I used ADE v1.7 to modify AFCADs, noting that some parking slots are angled and can't be used, so the option to realign the spots or simply limit available spots for Concorde to only those that are straight in.  Using the code designate approach will allow this.  I have the same issue with GSX fueling, however.
