Objects blocking path of taxiway
« on: April 28, 2016, 03:18:30 pm »
Hello,

There are objects blocking the pathway on taxiway Z heading east, as you taxi towards Terminal A. In that area there are two Bridges to cross and I believe these might be them.

I am using P3D in windows 7.
regards, MICHAEL.

The problem ( terrain spikes ) is caused because you haven't followed the KDFW manual, which says to use 10 m/pixel texture resolution and 100 Mesh complexity. See the "Design Notes" page. Your texture resolution was probably set too high. It has to be 10 m/pixel, not more, not less.

This is what the manual says (copied from pdf):

Keep the “Mesh Resolution” slider at least at 10 m/pixel, or better, and the
Mesh Complexity” slider at 100. With less resolution, some visual problems
might appear
.

This tells me to set higher TR for better visuals. 10m is the lowest setting in P3D, I will loose may visuals. That cannot be correct.
I do have all settings at max. I can try a slightly lower setting for the TR but not 10m.

Sorry, I should have written "Mesh Resolution", not Texture Resolution, which is what manuals says. The manual says "10 m/pixel or better", because it's not SURE that, if you set it to a better value, it will always cause spikes. It depends by other 3rd party meshes you have installed.

So, start with 10 m, and if you really need to set it higher, go up one notch until the problem reappears, so you know what the highest setting you can use.

I'll try that.
Thanks.

I had the exact same problem and this post helped fix it.  Went into Mesh Resolution and it was set at "1" I moved the slider to "10" and the blocks over the taxi way were gone when I reboot FSX.
