Pointing Gsx to the correct Afcad
« on: December 26, 2016, 02:30:13 am »
I realize that you get many similar questions and I would like to assure you that I am not being lazy. I’ve done  a lot of research on this forum and elsewhere to see if I can resolve this issue but either I can’t understand the solutions offered or I cannot find anything applicable to my situation.

I have the payware airport KTNP bought from Aerosoft (Publisher: 29Palms) . Whenever I use GSX and choose a parking position, this doesn’t correspond to the actual parking (if I choose this within FSX-SE menu). GSX Parking 1 for example  takes me inside a fenced in area. Same with other parking spots.

I realize that GSX is  probably using the default AFCAD and I don’t know how to point it to the correct .bgl file, assuming I know which one it is. I tried some suggestions I found like using the GSX menu item: “ Restart Couatl and rebuild airport cache” ; but none seem to work.

According the Gsx Customization menu the AFCAD file being accessed by Gsx lies in  .....\FSX\Scenery\0202\scenery\APX17190.bgl.
On the other hand, my KTNP scenery in my FSX Steam folder is in “Fsx\DLC\379572\29Palms” and the libraries for static airplanes and animation I think are in a similar folder.

I do know how to make Gsx ignore KTNP altogether but I don’t wish to do that.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Charles

The suggestions on the forum on using this options don't usually say just that. They also say you should enable logging in the Troubleshooting section of the GSX Setting page, and then check your %APPDATA%\Virtuali\Couatl.LOG file after exiting FSX immediately after having regenerated the cache.

The Couatl.LOG file will probably include some informations about WHY the AFCAD that has been supplied with the scenery has been rejected.

I am attaching my Coualt log. I have also had a look at the thread:http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=12666.0 especially regarding "likely too big to be an airport" entries. I could not find any references to any invalid AFCAD files but maybe I don't know where to look. Coualt does find the proper scenery at DLC\379572\29Palms\29Palms - KTNP - Twentynine Palms\scenery" (layer 131) and "DLC\379571\29Palms\29Palms - Libraries\scenery" (layer 132)

But at the end, it still insists on loading the default KTNP AFCAD:"Loading airport KTNP from C:\SteamFsx\steamapps\common\FSX\Scenery\0202\scenery\APX17190.bgl" (see end of log)"

I have also very recently downloaded and ran the latest setup_addonmanagerX.exe (35 mb)

I noticed that in my "..FSX\DLC\379572\29Palms\29Palms - KTNP - Twentynine Palms\scenery: there was one .bgl file named "ADE_TNP.BGL.OFF"  After removing ".OFF" everything is good now with GSX parking which corresponds to the KTNP payware airport parking.

I have no idea why that file could have been disabled with ".OFF" and when. Maybe something to do with ORBX?

In any case, everything is fine now. You can consider this topic closed.

Thanks for the help.
