Gate Identification
« on: November 23, 2016, 06:12:07 am »
Perusing the airport offerings, I am impressed by the details provided, however, also a bit disappointed that very few of the airport renderings provide prominent gate numbers. (For example-KIAH has a large board above each jetbridge clearly showing the designation and yet this is not apparent in the screenshots of the FSDT offering).
Id this a conscious decision to exclude from the products?

Gate numbers on animated jetways are very inefficient for memory/fps, since they would normally require a different model for each jetway, just to display a different number. If the jetways were static, this wouldn't be a problem, but I hope you'll agree it's best to have animated jetways.

We are working on a method that, together with GSX+SODE, will hopefully allow us to overcome this limitation.

Thank you for the explanation.  The whole art of creating scenery is magic to many of us and it can be difficult to appreciate the effort that goes into making these airports.
It would be great if this limitation that you described could be overcome...in the meantime, what about posting the gate numbers on the terminal instead?  While this would not be 100% accurate for all airports (in terms of appearance) it would make it much easier to find the proper gate.

Again, just a thought from someone who has no clue how to make these things happen.
