Problems in Prepar3D 3.4 - no GSX Menu
« on: September 22, 2016, 08:47:39 am »
Hi!

I have installed the new Prepar3D 3.4! Now the i can not launch the GSX Menu via CTRL+Shift+F12. I have even changed the keyboard command without success. I also posted this problem in the P3D Forum. Also re-installed GSX - same problem.

Is this a problem on the side of GSX (do i have to wait for an update) or Prepar3D?

Any help?

Thanks and greetings from Berlin
René

I updated to 3.4 and didn't have a problem with GSX. I'm mapped to use Ctrl+F12, no issues.

Until yesterday I used P3D v 3.3.5. I had only updated from previos versions using the client installer. GSX ctrl + F12 did not work. I have here in this forum read that you need to install the content too! So now after the release of P3D v 3.4 I updated all three, client, content and scenery. Now the GSX ctrl + F12 works just fine!

I have had this issue with GSX before and had to re-install Client and Content. I have done that as well this time but no luck. The difference this time around is that I run windows 10 AND it just did a update as well that has uninstalled some of my addons as being incompatible.  I think you guys need to look at Microsoft win 10 and see if GSX even works with it at all now. I have re-installed P3d and GSX and I get no gsx menu at all. Mind you I still have my menus for things like iFly 747, FSUIPC and others so it isn't a P3d issue. I really do believe it is a conflict between GSX and Windows 10.

You are now probably confusing what "menus" we are referring here, so you probably think you have the "same" problem, the one that requires the content to be reinstalled, with something entirely different.

The problem discussed here, which is the one that's NOT caused by GSX, is the lack of the GSX transparent menu, the one that appears AFTER you press CTRL+Shift+F12 to call it. You can check if you are in this situation if:

- The Couatl and GSX menus under the "Addons" menu are there.

AND

- When you go to a parking with engines off and the parking brake set, you'll see the Traffic Cones created by GSX appearing over the airplane (unless you use a plane that has its own traffic cones)

Those two are an indication that GSX IS WORKING, it's just the P3D standard Simconnect menu it's missing, because THAT transparent menu it's created by the sim, and NO OTHER app will display that menu too, unless you properly reinstall the updated Content.

Instead, if you are missing the GSX menu under the "Addons" menu, that's an ENTIRELY different issue, that doesn't have anything to do with the problem discussed here, and it indicates that GSX hasn't even started, so this CANNOT be fixed by reinstalling the Content, and it's usually caused by the antivirus.

This thread here indicates all known causes for the missing menus:

Everybody at FSDT doesn't use anything that P3D 3.4 and Windows 10 so no, that's not the issue.

See the above thread, and if you are in the 2nd situation (no GSX menu under the "Addons" menu), please do not reply here, but open a new thread, with the proper subject, and describe your problem accurately, and all the steps you took to fix it, according to the above linked thread.
