GSX version and re-install
« on: August 10, 2015, 05:05:35 pm »
How do you determine if you have the lastest version installed?  I can find no version number info in the drop down menus.

If you do a re-install, must you remove the previous installation or can you write over it? ???

It's not very meaningful to discuss about a version number, because GSX is a program that is constantly updated and both the installer and the included Live Update service will keep changing the installed code. But sometimes the update is related to new vehicles and liveries (that have their own separate updaters), so doesn't really have much sense to discuss about version number: if we changed the build version every time we update a single file, the version number would change every day, and would drive people mad trying to chase it, with no need whatsoever, because that file would have been updated anyway with the Live Update.

You can only check the version of the installer you started from, which is indicated when the installer starts.

If there was a need to uninstall, we would clearly alert to do so or, more likely, we'll have the installer check for it, and either suggest to uninstall, or do the uninstall automatically.

Since we haven't done any of this, you can assume that uninstalling or not doesn't make any difference.
