AI traffic is using rwy 32 and 34
« on: June 21, 2015, 01:57:48 pm »
Hi

I am using LSZH with P3D 2.5. Now I'm experimenting with AI traffic with a few selfmade flightplans for the first time. My AI traffic is taking off at rwy 34 and landing on rwy 32. How can I influence the selection of the rwys?

Cheers
Greg

Runway selection is made by FSX depending on many factors, like the wind.

Is there no chance to influence this with some sort of adaptions or tweaks in the AFCADs?

I'm not sure I understand your question: are you saying you would like that FSX would *ignore* the wind, and use a certain runway regardless ? Yes, a runway can be closed for Takeoff or Landing in the AFCAD, you can try that, but what happens if the wind is coming from the wrong side ?

As I've said, FSX select a runway for takeoff or landing depending on MANY factors, the wind being one, but also the availability of an ILS (for landing), the length, the distance from the gate, etc. It's a formula where each parameter has its own weight.

Hi Virtuali

No rather not to use a certain rwy than to use a certain rwy.

The LSZH experts may correct me, but I have never ever seen land a plane on rwy 32 in real life for example. So yes, I would like to try to close this rwy and see what the behaviour will be. Is this in the APX_LSZH.BGL?

Hi Greg,

I fly regularly as a passenger out of LSZH. There are some rules in force there due to a noise abatement agreement between Switzerland and Germany, because although over 30% of the passengers flying out of Zurich live in southern Germany, they don't like to have planes flying low over their heads! For this reason, aircraft are not allowed to land on RWY14 (normally used for landings during the day together with RWY28) before 0800 - so before this time they have to land on RWY34. it has happened on a couple of occasions that we have landed on RWY32, but rarely. I've taken off a few times from RWY32 though. There is also an evening restriction, but I'm not sure what time it kicks in.

Cheers
Jack

Hi

Just in case, please find below the current rules on preferential runway assignment at LSZH (taken from VACC)

GENERALLY
Arrivals: RWY 14
Departures: RWY 28
Runways will be used up to 10 kts (RWY 14) and 7 kts (RWY 28) tailwind-component

MORNING
Weekdays until 0600Z(0500Z summer) arrivals RWY 34,departures RWY 32.
Weekends and holiday until 0800Z(0700Z summer) arrivals RWY 34, departures RWY 32

EVENING
Weekdays
after 2000Z(1900Z summer) arrivals RWY 28, departures RWY 32
Weekends and holidays after 1900Z(1800Z summer) arrivals RWY 28, departures RWY 32

Probably not the easiest to build in FSX/P3D AI.

Cheers Andreas
