After experiencing "out of memory" errors and poor performance issues,  with advice from this forum, I decided to try with DX10 preview.  Note: (did use tweaking software and related configurations in Nvidia inspector and in the fsx.cfg file).  Now FSX with sliders maxed except water at 2.x, autogen at normal and radius detail at medium, with lens flare and light bloom both ON, getting 31 fps (which is locked max, recommended with tweaking guide) all around with very smooth performance, NO more OOM errors or lags..   Its like a different sim now, Wow,    FSDT sceneries are exceptional with super clarity, lighting is excellent..  thanks,   Hope this post does not violate any posting rules but wanted to share huge performance jump and excellent overall sim experience...Snapshots FSDT KDFW

Well, thank you for the report. It was since when we released CYVR, which was wrongly accused to "cause OOMs", while in fact it was the area which is full of other 3rd party add-ons combined with the usage of memory hungry airplanes that caused it, that we were suggesting to TRY DX10 as one of the possible solutions to OOMs.

There IS a reason why all our latest sceneries (starting with KDFW) performs so much better in DX10 (and in DX11 under P3D), it's because they don't have ANY legacy FS8 code inside, that's what prevents a scenery to work fully under DX10, and that's what slows down the scenery a lot.

When a scenery is made with 100% native FSX code, in addition to being fully compatible with DX10, it will ALSO perform better.
