If you have an outdated installer, the installer will tell you something about P3D not being recognized. In this case, download the latest installer.
If, instead, the installation goes automatically into FSX, the problem is that your registry keys for P3D are corrupted, most likely by the usage of the P3D Migration Tool, which must be disabled when installing and using a fully P3D compliant product, like all ours.
