No aircraft Shadow on CYVR runways
« on: February 13, 2015, 02:45:18 am »
For the first time after installing Prepar3D V2.5 I noticed
that the there is not aircraft shadow on the runway.
I had the flight setup with the default CYVR scenery
and there was a shadow and then installed the FSDT
CYVR and no Shadow. Is this normal that the
runway texture does not receive a shadow or have
I done something wrong?

You must set your lighting settings correctly. CYVR, like all the other FSDT sceneries, don't use standard scenery objects for ground polygons, which means you will have to set several cast/receive options in the P3D lighting/shadows settings.

In this case, the options that must be on are:

- External vehicle "cast"

- Simobjects "receive"

Thanks, That was it alright!
By the way the scenery is fantastic in Prepar3D V2.5
FPS hitting 40 with 100% AI Airline traffic plus the
blotchy shadows although still there are far less noticeable.
Still my fovourite Airport in FS, Thanks :-)

At the time I wrote that probably A2A C172 and or cherokee. But I get a good 30+fps with PMDG also.

This video is a bit stuttery but you can see the FPS in the bottom left corner.
The actual game although not absolutely stutter free is far smoother than
that video :-)

Of course on those setting the OOM is inevitable :-(
