It's kind of annoying every time I load an airport, and have to wait, although I don't know why I should wait, for a message banner across the top of my screen to let me know what percentage of the airport has loaded. Is there any way to remove this banner?

There's no airport loading banner anywhere, unless you are going to an FSDT scenery which is installed but not purchased, so there's a message that lasts 5 seconds, telling you the Trial period has started.

Are you perhaps referring to the cache regeneration message from GSX ? This will appear ONLY if you make changes to the Scenery Library, not at every FSX launch.

If you have both FSX and P3D installed on the same system, this would have appeared also when you switched from a sim to another, but only up the last version. The current version of the Stand-Alone Addon Manager has separate caches for both sims, so the message will not appear anymore just by switching between the two sims, as it used to be.

All fsdt airports I have install are purchased and verified with my serial numbers, so that is not the case. So, you are right, I'm referring to the cache regeneration message from GSX. I have added some new sceneries, such as FTX regions, but even before adding these new addon, I was still getting that GSX message. I'm one of the few, I guess, that has not made the leap over to P3D, so I'm sure it has nothing to do with the switching between the sims. Perhaps I should download the stand alone addon manager and see if that helps any?

The updated Stand-Alone Addon Manager will only improve the behavior if you have both FSX and P3D installed under the same Windows installation, and of course you'll see another full cache regeneration after the update, because it needs to create a new cache in the new FSX-specific location now.

However, both the version you have and the latest one, will only regenerate the cache if you add/remove or enable/disable something in the Scenery Library. It's not that GSX is trying to detect changes to the Scenery Library by itself: it asks FSX so, if FSX regenerates its own cache, GSX will do it as well. It's just that the FSX cache regeneration sometimes is not displayed, if it takes a very short time.
