Problem with PMDG B744 De-icers positioning
« on: December 15, 2014, 05:38:43 pm »
Hi Umberto!

Just tried v1.9 using PMDG B744 (Air Canada) at a default gate and the deicers parked too close to the wings and lifted right through the wings on each side.  I have included image of the Left side.  I tried this at a different default gate and encountered the exact same.  Is there a way to adjust the deice trucks for this aircraft.  I have tried so far on NGX and Level D 763 and they performed perfectly for those models.  I am including my modified AFCAD corresponding to the image I am sending you.  The gate I used is Gate 24 in that AFCAD.  I placed the aircraft exactly at the gate footprint using the FSX menu so it is not a misparking issue.  This is CYHZ and I also tried same test with same aircraft at CYOW and had same results.

Yes, of course there is, just use the airplane configuration editor and move the deicers in/our points over the wing. The AFCAD or the parking doesn't have any effect on this.

Thanks, Umberto!

I shall give it an immediate try!

OK.  I moved the initial position rearward and toward the wingtip so the bucket would clear the wings when it raised and lowered but the visual of the deicing is not avoiding the front part of the wings.  Is there a way to adjust that portion separately?   I anticipate a greater discrepancy with ConcordeX due to the delta shape of the wing.  I shall try that next.

I adjusted here as a test, and it works fine. I only moved them backward a bit.

Hi again, Umberto!

My reply in the last post was a bit confusing.  I apologize.  What I mean is that now that I have moved them backward to avoid passing through the wing when raising or descending, the spray is now not reaching the front edge of the wings.  It is only de-icing the center of the wings.  Now with the ConcordeX, I anticipate the same issue only more exaggerated because if I position the de-icers such that buckets do not pass through the wings when going up or down then the spray will surely not be angled enough to reach the front edge of the huge delta wings.   Not serious though, since it is just eye-candy but with such a great and innovative visual simulation it is ashame that it can not be made more accurate on these larger different shaped wings.

UPDATE:  On next flight, I used same gate and plane after my modifications and this time it looks like de-icers are reaching the front of the wings so I will not need any further modification.  Now to test ConcordeX.
