Long Cache regen KSAN

My notes:
Originally getting 15 minute regen cache times in P3DV2.4.

After removing all scenery from my P3dV2.4 Addon Scenery folder I got very quick regen cache times (FSX and P3D).
I now thought one of the freeware afcads I had in there caused all my problems.

I installed payware KSAN (LatinVFR) for P3D v2 in a folder outside P3D on my F drive. It was one of the sceneries originally in the P3D Addon Sceneru folder.

I started P3D and the regen took 15 minutes ... not 141 seconds as reported below in this log!
Once the cache was done loading GSX worked normally (screenshot) at KSAN ... no problems observed.


BTW, this same KSAN  (LatinVFR) scenery is used in FSX in the FSX Addon scenery folder ... no problems with regen cache time there.

So, why the very long regenerating cache times only in P3D v2.4 ???

The different sim cannot have any effect on it, since Couatl.exe is running externally to the sim, and it's checking the AFCADs independently on its own.

Do you still have slow cache regeneration at each start ? If it was just the fist time, but you haven't got any errors and it's now working, just leave it as it is. Just be sure you don't use the P3D Migration Tool, because this will surely confuse the program a lot, because it thinks it must search for sceneries in the FSX folder.

I do not have Migration tool.

I did more testing.

On next P3D or FSX flight no reg cache problem.

Then I did more tests.

Like today:
Note: This log I did not find and entry for where I was at (VHHX) and it says 226 seconds for regen ... but it was actually nearly 15 minute to reach 100% on my screen.

I deleted a scenery area from FSX.
Exited FSX.
Started P3D v2.4
Went to VHHX.
The regenerating cache took 14 min 56 seconds.

Whenever I change make a change to the FSX scenery ... next time starting P3D will cause a 15 min regen cache ... not good.

So, why is there never a problem with FSX regen cache but P3D takes so long?

Why does a FSX scenery change have anything to do with P3D?

Why does a FSX scenery change have anything to do with P3D?

This is to be expected, the cache location is just one, under %PROGRAMDATA%\Virtuali, we would have to update the program to handle two separate caches, it's being planned, but it's not there yet.

We added separate cache locations for FSX and P3D in the current update. It can be obtained by reinstalling either GSX or the Stand-Alone Addon Manager.

I thought I had fixed all of the problems but they sometimes re-occur.  I fly into and out of KDEN alot.  I have had times when Couatl did not recognize KDEN.  I simply went to the Add on manager and restarted Couatl.  It regenerated in a short time.  I have also had issues with the tug not responding to the push back order.  Again, I restarted Couatl and it worked in a very brief amount of time.  It is not a huge issue but I thought I would bring it to your attention.  I did the re-installs earlier per my prior posts on this thread.

Again: are you STILL keep changing stuff in the scenery.cfg files ? If you have a cache regeneration after you changed something, it's NORMAL it would regenerate the cache.

Do you have the SAME set of sceneries in FSX and P3D ? And, when you changed the thing you changed, do you changed the SAME thing on FSX and P3D ? If the two libraries are not the same and the things you changed are not the same, comparing regeneration times between FSX and P3D is not very meaningful.

If you have installed the latest Stand-Alone Addon Manager update, this problem has been fixed.

That quoted post was days old and it was saying all was OK after your update.....
It was not reporting a problem.
