Drzewiecki Design and GSX
« on: September 08, 2014, 10:30:20 am »
Umberto,

As you may know or not, in their latest releases (Tallinn and Moscow Sheremetyevo) the Drzewiecki Design team have included a new animation technique allowing jetways to dock.
However, looks like there unfortunately (otherwise that would be a great piece of news) seems to be incompatibility between their animation engine and our beloved GSX.
Activating GSX removes the jetway the aircraft is parked at. Please see this thread where Staszek Drzewiecki explains it: http://drzewiecki-design.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=280&start=30

Do you think there is a chance to make the two compatible somehow (that would be a dream for all current and potential GSX users of their great sceneries)?

All the best,
Rafal

I think the issue is similar to what happened with LHBP from LHSimulations, but they contacted us and we solved it easily, adding specific code to GSX to protect their scenery objects.

I tried downloading the Demo version of both sceneries, but it doesn't seem to include the custom jetways, so I couldn't test it properly (strange way of calling it a "full featured demo"...), so I had to guess what the problem might be looking at a message on their forum.

Have a look at the attached file, it's supposed to protect any object in the Simobjects folder with a title starting with "DrzewieckiDesign" from being removed by GSX, I hope that works for both sceneries, let me know if it's working with the full version.

Put the attached file in the following folder:

FSX\fsdreamteam\Couatl\GSX

Umberto,

First of all big thanks to you for having adressed this problem so quickly.
I am really impressed, not the first time and I am sure not the last one.  ;)

I do not have these sceneries yet, as GSX compatibility is as important to me as AES compatibility to some.
But I have notified Staszek and other DD customers over at the DD forums, so I hope someone will test it immediately.
If it works (and I am sure it will), I will buy both sceneries.

Thanks a lot again,
Rafal

Did he resolve the other issue of the installer replacing the exe.dll instead of appending to it?

I've read he did and the new installer is the result of this fix.

As I've said, since DD doesn't provide with a proper Demo version that includes all objects, I couldn't do a proper fix, and had to work in the blind, assuming they named the objects in the Simobjects\Misc\DrzewieckiDesign folder with titles starting with "DrzewieckiDesign", but apparently it's not the case.

You might be able to help, if you could tell me the title of the jetway objects located in that folders. Look the SIM.CFG for them, and report their titles in the "title" parameter of [fltsim.xx] section. If there are several objects and/or several [fltsim.xx] sections with many different titles, please report them all.

I only have their NYX airports, but the naming convention they used is every object name starts with the airport's ICAO code.  Does that help you, Umberto?

I would like to have a confirmation by someone with the full scenery installed, perhaps there's a pattern common for both airports that will hopefully work for future releases too.

Here is the link to this file completely UUEE only. Tallinn haven't bought.

Try it again now ( download the attached file again, from my original post ), and it should work, hopefully with Tallin too, if they used the same naming convention.

Unfortunately, but jetways in EETN still disappear after starting GSX.
I have attached a file sim.cfg from Tallin EETN

As far as I see, the file for EETN was sent to you too (see above). Please correct me if I'm wrong, but probably in case of EETN it can be little more difficult. I'm not sure whether I understand the solution properly, but... in case of UUEE all objects have the name "UUEE_JetWay_XX" (where XX is a number) and thus the objects can be identified by ICAO code. In case of EETN the objects are named: "JetWayXX" or "AME Hangar Door A", etc., which means that they cannot be easily identified due to the common name.

Is it necessary for you to change their names / titles by Drzewiecki Design? Should we ask them to modify the scenery or it's not necessary?

Then they used a different naming convention for the payware version, the freeware version has everything named starting with EETN.
