Runway 25R, approach light on start of runway
« on: June 24, 2014, 06:08:56 am »
When taxing onto runway 25R from taxiway B (B1), there is a yellow colored approach light structure that is to the left of me on the runway. Shouldn't it be farther east?

I see it too. I tried to locate the approach light piers using Google Earth, but it's hard to see them. (The photos were taken around noon, so there are no useful shadows to use.) I do notice that the ends of almost all of the runways are slightly different than the software shows. For example, most of them have areas called "Blast Pads", with yellow chevrons painted on them. But none of those chevrons show up in the software. Still, none of that really affects you if you stay on the centerline of the taxiways and runways.

Same here, it really changed my mind regarding applying the "save runway" technique (which involves aligning the plane on the very beginning of the runway), instead, I tried to be as much to the right as possible (large plane).
