GSX (no responding) **SOLVED**
« on: March 20, 2014, 01:34:20 am »
Hi there,

Lately I have bought a new laptop installed with windows 8 version and after I installed GSX into FSX, it seems the GSX is not responding at all. I have also registed and updated to the latest version as well.

There is no problem using my pervious laptop, installed with windows 7. Still working fine...

I have read and tried all the possible ways that could fix posted on the wall, but unfortunately non were working.

Can anyone please help? Much appreciate!!!

Regards,

Ison Wan

What do you mean "not responding" ? Do you have both the "Addon Manager" and the "Couatl powered products" under the FSX "Addons" menu ? Do you have the GSX sub-menus under the Couatl menu ?

Check the Key Mapping menu under the Couatl menu to verify you haven't conflicting keys. If there aren't conflicts there, check all your other installed add-ons they don't use any of the keys used by GSX and if they do, either change the key in GSX or in the other add-ons, if they allow the key to be redefined.

There was nothing on the key mapping tho... Just blank. No others software is using the same function key too.

That's why it doesn't work. Reinstall GSX and it will restore the keymapping to default.

I'm sorry, but that's not possible, unless you manually edited the keymapping.ini file, and corrupted it so the installer couldn't fix it.

Remove the %APPDATA%\Virtuali\keymapping.ini file and REINSTALL GSX.

I did. Not working neither... According to the file located at %APP%, it does have the key mapping. But not in FSX which under the menu bar, add ons, key mappings... Blank.

Are you maybe trying to run FSX.EXE into "Compatibility" mode ? That's wrong and if you do it, other folders for your local account preference will be used instead of the correct ones.

Turn off every Compatibility mode from FSX.EXE in the "Compatibility" tab for the FSX.EXE Properties, the only one that can (but is not required) is the "Run As Administrator"

No compatibility mode has been set. Normally FSX.exe runs as Adminstrator...

Please, clarify the problem.

You HAVE a keymapping.ini, but is empty ? I'm referring to the content of the file itself, not the key mapping dialog box under the Couatl menu.

And, if you remove the keymapping.ini file, and reinstall GSX, is STILL blank ? Just remove and reinstall GSX, don't run FSX before checking the file.
