GSX won't start
« on: May 12, 2016, 08:47:57 pm »
Hello. I've downloaded GSX but when I go in the fsx bar, I only have the addon manager in it and I don't have the Couatl powered button.
I've already done the procedure of uninstalling it and downloading it without antivirus and excluding the two .dll files as mentioned in another topic and the result is still the same.
I also noticed that during the installation process it says: couldn't install patched vehicles, restoring from back up now.
Also when I opened fsx after installation, I was asked to execute both modules (couatl and addon) and I clicked yes on both.
I tried both the CTRL+F12 and CTRL+SHIFT+F12 but nothing happens
Thank you in advance,
Enrico

I'm sorry, but I can only confirm that, if you are only missing the Couatl menu, it can only be the antivirus.

- DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL with the antivirus entirely OFF

- Uninstall GSX. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.

- Reinstall GSX with the Antivirus TURNED OFF. Don't launch FSX yet.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\couatl.exe

YourFSXFolder it's usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, if you installed it in the default folder.

- Now you can turn the antivirus back on, and launch FSX.

- Check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl powered products" menu under the "Addons" menu

May it be the fact that I have Windows XP SP3? I tried the procedure again and nothing changed.

GSX doesn't work with Windows XP:

System Requirements:

GSX is compatible with FSX+SP2 minimum, or FSX+Acceleration Pack or FSX:Steam Edition, or Lockheed Martin Prepar3D. Windows Vista or Windows 7/8/10, 32 and 64 bit editions are supported.
